Bay Of Islands Cruise Ship Shore Excursion

Our tour starts at the Waitangi Wharf where the cruise ship tenders arrive. You will be met by your tour guide at the Wharf before you depart on your small group tour.

A short scenic drive takes you to our first stop, the Kawiti glow worm caves to enjoy the mesmerizing magical glowworm experience, after which we move on to Kawakawa town. This is a small town which is also known as “train town” and home to the famous Hundertwasser-designed public toilets - a definite must on your itinerary.  Later we visit the Puketi Forest. This is a 15,000 hectare forest where you have the opportunity to see and visit the magnificent Kauri trees!

Our next stop is Kerikeri which has a rich and colourful history and is also where the Makana Chocolate Factory is based. This is a boutique chocolate factory where you can watch the making of chocolates, taste a few samples and of course shop for some delicious treats. You will also be able to visit the Kauri Workshop next door for crafts and collectables that are on sale here.

We move on to our next venue to visit the famous horse shoe waterfalls, Haruru Falls a breathtaking waterfall, its name meaning "big noise". These falls are located in a hidden valley on the beautiful and peaceful Waitangi River giving some wonderful opportunities for photographs.

The last stop of the day is the Waitangi lookout Loop. This setting gives you a chance to take in the stunning views over looking Waitangi and the Bay of Islands, before your transportation back to the wharf or alternatively if your ships departure time allows, you could be dropped off in Paihia for sightseeing or shopping and then you can catch the free shuttle bus back to the tender wharf at Waitangi.

Your tour guide will instruct you where to catch the shuttle buses back to the tenders should you wish to stay in town longer.
